"CELEBRATE PROGRESSION"

Scripture:  Luke 13:22 (YLT)

"And he was going through cities and villages, teaching, and making progress toward Jerusalem;" (YLT)

Recently I cleaned an area of my yard and loaded branches and other debris onto my pickup truck to carry to the landfill. When I arrived at the landfill it was closed. I went back a few days later and there was a problem with the scale that weighs the load. Traffic was backed up. It took me almost an hour to unload the debris. When I finished and proceeded to the exit, the director was at the gate and he apologized that it took so long. He made a statement that prompted this devotional. He said "it shouldn't take this long to get rid of garbage."

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could easily discard the garbage we have collected in life? The director at the landfill said that it shouldn't take this long to get rid of garbage; however, getting rid of some things takes time. If you really want to discard some debris in your life, be patient through the process and learn to celebrate progression.

We do ourselves an injustice when we eliminate time from the equation of progress. We are in a culture that wants everything immediately and if things are not happening right now, we conclude that it won't happen at all. It may take you a while to quit a long standing habit. If it does, endure the process. You may not be where you want to be but thank God that you are not where you used to be. Celebrate your progression.
