"ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT"

Scripture: Psalm 45:7

The other day I got in my car to leave a particular place at a time when I was a bit frustrated. I sat there a few minutes before moving and then finally I put the car in reverse and backed out of the parking spot, then put the car in drive and moved ahead. It was at that moment the Holy Spirit spoke and reminded me that attitude is just like the gears of a car, it moves you in whatever direction you chose to go. My attitude had me sitting in the car for a few minutes before backing up. Each move that I made was my own choice whether it was sitting, going backwards, or moving forward. The situation that had frustrated me did not change; however, I controlled my destiny.

Fixing problems is much more challenging than fixing perspectives. We often allow the problem to consume our time and energy and the end result is frustration. Rather than being frustrated by the things you cannot change, why not opt to be fulfilled by focusing on the one thing that you can change and that is your attitude. You will find that your disposition is more powerful than your dilemma.

As you read this devotional, conduct a self-evaluation. How long have you been sitting still because of some frustrating situation that has not changed? It's time to shift. Remember, "God has set you above others by anointing you with the oil of joy" (Psalm 45:7c). The oil of joy is for attitude adjustment.
