"KNOW WHEN TO FOLD 'EM"

Scripture:  Acts 15:38

Recently I was watering the flowers around our home when suddenly; the pressure coming from the sprayer lowered and little water was coming out. When I looked around I noticed that water was spewing into the air as the hose had sprung a leak. Water was being wasted and my work being hindered because of this leaky hose. Foolishly, I pressed harder on the nozzle because I was almost finished but pressing harder didn't accomplish anything.  I either had to fix the leak, get a new hose, or grab some buckets and finish the old traditional way which would make me work harder.

How often has your own accomplishments been hindered because you are working with something that has sprung a leak? You can have a great staff but one person can be the leak in the hose. You can have a good team that could really be a great team if the leak were fixed.

Paul thought John Mark was a leak in the hose. He even remembered when the leak sprung while they were working in Pamphylia. Barnabas wanted to give John Mark another chance, but Paul felt that he hindered the work and was emphatically against it.

One of my weaknesses as a leader has been my willingness to work with leaky hoses. They make you work harder. They put more pressure on others to get the job done. Whether business or personal, my prayer for you today is that you learn from Paul and know when to fold em.
