"DIVINE GPS"

Scripture:  Psalm 16:11

"You will show me the way"

Over the holidays one of my relatives hit some pretty hard times. In my efforts to be of assistance I asked her to go to a certain place. I gave her the address and she put it in her navigation system. Unfortunately, the navigator was not able to calculate the route and she ended up circling the area for quite a while. She called me later and shared the frustration she encountered by being lost. My comment to her was "I gave you the address." She replied, "yes, but you did not tell me how to get there."

In John Maxwell's book, The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, he writes about the Law of Navigation. He says "anyone can steer the ship but it takes a leader to chart the course." It's not enough to simply have vision of where you want to go but it is equally important that you know how to get there.

Now that you have embraced a new year you have probably set some goals for the year. Remember, "A goal without a plan is just a wish." Keep your eyes on the goal but your hands on the strategy. How do you plan to get to where you are going? May I offer you Divine GPS in Psalm 16? In the seventh verse David writes "I will bless the Lord who guides me" and in verse eleven he writes, "You will show me the way." He's not only going to give you the address, He's going to show you how to get there.
