"DON'T SETTLE"

Scripture:  Genesis 11:31

"....................................He was headed for the land of Canaan, but they stopped at Haran and settled there. " (NLT)

Did you know that long before Abraham went into the land of Canaan, his father Terah had decided to move there? Terah had loaded his family up and moved from the land of Ur with Canaan as their destination. They travelled 1000 miles to a place that Terah named Haran and that was as far as they got. The Bible does not tell us why Terah did not go the other 400 miles into Canaan. We do know for certain that "he was headed for the land of Canaan, but they stopped at Haran and settled there". We also know that Terah died in Haran at the age of 205.

Have you settled for Haran even though you know that God has a Canaan for you? Has fear, the lack of resources, relationships, fatigue, or even your own flesh kept you stuck in a particular place and caused you to forfeit the promise that God has for you? Sometimes Haran can be a good place and we can settle for good while forfeiting great. We can easily settle for jobs at the sacrifice of entrepreneurship. Haran seems to be a very ordinary place while the Bible teaches that Canaan was extraordinary. Don't settle for ordinary when you can have extraordinary.

Nelson Mandela said, "There is no passion to be found in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living". Canaan is your destination. Don't settle in Haran.
