"Prayer"

Scripture: Matthew 6:10

Often when we pray we ask God to fulfill our personal desires. We pray for our will to be done. When Jesus taught His disciples to pray He told them to say "thy kingdom come THY WILL BE DONE." Since we are human and He is God it is natural to conclude that these two wills do not always agree. It is essential that we pray that His will override our will.

Prayer is not intended to change God. God is immutable. The word "immutable [God]" in Scripture means that He is not transposed or transposable. It means that He is fixed and unalterable. He is so perfect that change is not necessary. Even His will for our lives is a perfect will that does not need to be altered.

So, why pray?  We pray because prayer is the tool that God uses to change us so that we are able to adjust and accept whatever His will is for our lives. Prayer anoints (smears) us so that we fit into those tight areas of His will. The greatest result of prayer is that it changes the individual who prays. Prayer does not necessarily cause us to have a lighter load but it will result in us having stronger backs. Through prayer we are made stronger so that heavy loads seem lighter even though they still weigh the same. Keep praying and you will be amazed at how much you will change.
