Job 13:13
........................... and I will face the consequences. (NLT)
Everything we do has consequences. Whether good or bad, you will never be free from consequences. There are consequences to getting out of the bed, taking a shower, brushing your teeth, eating breakfast, going to work, staying at home, walking the dog, not walking the dog.....everything has consequences. Wisdom is being able to anticipate the consequences and then do what has to be done so as to achieve the ones you desire.
Consequences can be immediate and then dissipate or they can be long-lasting. America is still dealing with the consequences of slavery. We also benefit from the consequences of what great men and women like Frederick Douglas, Sojourner Truth, Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, and others who were brave enough to take the risk and face the consequences.
In the text, Job requested permission to speak and expressed that he was willing to face the consequences that came with what he said. On the other hand, had he not spoken, there would have been consequences resulting from his silence.
Whatever you do today, do not assume that it will only affect you. The decisions you make now may have consequences that your children and grandchildren have to deal with. We are all sinners as the consequence of Adam's sin. But the second Adam, Jesus, was crucified, buried, and arose. Through his blood we have receive the gift of salvation as the consequence.
Everything we do has consequences. Use wisdom and do what's best so that it will yield the consequences you desire.
