Joshua 1:8
"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."
I was in the barber shop recently when two barbers playfully tugged on a magazine that had come in the mail. One barber felt that the magazine was useless and even shouted that no one should waste their time reading such garbage. The other barber felt that it should be put on the magazine rack so that the patrons could benefit from its content. As they pulled on the magazine it was ripped apart leaving both holding a portion. The barber who considered the magazine useless took his portion and tossed it in the garbage. The other barber retrieved it from the garbage and took the two parts and put them both on the magazine rack. Even though the document was ripped the content remained and he hoped that someone to take time to read it.
This scene is the image of society and the church as we pull on the Word of God. Many in society are convinced that the Bible is useless. Unfortunately, there are many in the church that tend to agree with that opinion. But there are others like myself and Lee Robertson who said that "The Bible is gold mine waiting for someone to dig out its riches". Dwight Moody said "The Bible will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from the Bible."
The tug continues, pages have been ripped, but the Bible is still right.
