Acts 16:9
"And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us."
I was walking into a local store recently and noticed a young man holding the door open as a lady was coming out. A second lady was approaching but signaled to the young man that she was ok and did not need his assistance. The young man released the door and proceeded to his car. Suddenly there was a crashing noise. The lady who had signaled that she was ok and did not need assistance had dropped one of her bags. The young man looked at me, shrugged his shoulders and said, "I offered to help".
One of the greatest mistakes we make as we attempt to climb the ladder of success is to assume that we don't need any assistance. How many bags have we dropped or failed in some other way, simply because we did not seek help or refused it even when offered. We are constantly encouraged to help others but there is not enough emphasis put on the importance of allowing others to help us.
Barak Obama once said "Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. I do that every day. Asking for help isn't a sign of weakness. It's a sign of strength. It shows you have the courage to admit when you don't know something, and to learn something new."
