"By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life....." (NLT)

This week while traveling I had breakfast in a restaurant. Service at the omelet station was arranged so that each customer filled a bowl with the ingredients they wanted and would hand the bowl to the chef. There were 3 of us in line. We filled our separate bowls, handed them to the chef and proceeded to get other items from the buffet while he prepared our omelets. We each returned to the omelet station and discovered that the chef had gotten things mixed up. He had, without explanation, added ingredients that neither of us put in our bowl. Shaking my head, I told the chef that it made no sense for the customer to give him what they wanted in their omelet and then he change it to what he waned them to have.

I realized then it was another revelatory moment. According to 2 Peter1:3, the moment we were saved, God gave us everything we needed in order to live a godly life. Peter wrote ""By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him...." Whatever He did not give us initially is not a necessary ingredient for the life he wants us to live. The chef, like the church, made an error by adding ingredients rather than simply stirring the ingredients that he had been given.

You are already fully equipped with the gifts, abilities, disciplines, and everything else that you need. Stir what He gave you and be what He called you to be.
