"JEHOVA-TABBAKH"

Scripture: Psalm 23:5 

Don't concern yourself with looking this name up in your dictionary of names for God. "Tabbakh" is Hebrew for "cook". David writes "Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies."

Anyone who has ever served in military combat knows that a soldier never sits down to eat while in the presence of the enemy. If he eats at all, it is hurriedly. But David describes a banquet scenery in the middle of a field. The Shepherd that he writes about in verses 1-4 has put down His staff, girded himself with an apron and covered His head with a chefs' cap. Jehovah Ra-ah (shepherd) is now Jehovah Tabbakh (cook).  

The angels serve as hosts and they have seated David at the table. All of this while the enemy stands with swords drawn, anxious to attack. Not only has the chef prepared the table, but He serves as body guard while David eats. The Hebrew word "Tabbakh" also means "body guard". There they stand unable to do anything but watch as David dines scrumptiously.  

Go ahead. This is your day at the table. Your enemy has caused your God to become your cook, banquet host, and body guard. ENJOY!
