In addition to being a pastor, I am a business owner licensed in the insurance industry. One thing that is required in the insurance industry is continuing education. You cannot neglect continuing education and maintain your license. License renewal demands that you show evidence of completing a required number of continuing education hours. It is mandatory that you are always learning.

Solomon said that a wise man is always increasing his learning. If you already know all there is to know about whatever you are doing, be warned that there is not much life left in it. Your continuing education certificates say more about you than the degree on the wall. The degree says what you did in the past. Continuing education says what you are doing now.

Never seek elevation without education. Continuing education is an investment in yourself.  It doesn't mean that you have to enroll in school. Sometimes just reading a book about your career can create a new world of relevance. Great leaders are consistent learners. You may not have a regulating agency demanding that you participate in continuing education courses. Find a person who will hold you accountable. You want to be a better parent? What was the last book you read on parenting?  You want to be a better spouse? What was the last continuing education opportunity you embraced?
