"TRUST THE RIGHT SOURCE"

Scripture: John 5:30

"I can of mine own self do nothing.........................."

There is a husband and wife team in our Church that runs a decorative balloon business. I am often fascinated by the beautiful designs that they do with the balloons
.
After a recent event one of the balloons had disconnected from the arrangement and had floated into the ceiling. The decorator certainly does not spend time blowing up hundreds of balloons with their own breath. Had they been blown up that way, rather than floating into the air when disconnected, it would have fallen to the ground. The source inside the balloon causes it to rise to the top rather than falling to the floor.

A new year is upon us and we are all excited about resolutions, goals, dreams, visions, etc. Many of us will commit to being more disciplined, having better relationships, and many other improvements that we know we need to make. We start the year determined to put our entire self into making these things happen. As time progresses we get disappointed because our plans have failed. Like these balloons, rather than filling your plans with your own breath, allow them to be strengthened by another source.

Even Jesus testified "I can of mine own self do nothing." This is not to suggest that we should not exert any effort but if the only effort exerted is our own, then failure is inevitable. Your dependency on God is not an expression of your weakness. It's a demonstration of your wisdom.
