"TAKING A LEAP OF FAITH"

2 Corinthians 5:7
"For we walk by faith and not by sight"

While recently preparing to preach on the subject of faith, I ran across articles about an animal called the African Impala. Impalas are medium-sized antelopes that roam the savanna and light woodlands of eastern and southern Africa. The antelope can jump to a height of over 10 feet and cover a distance of greater than 30 feet.  They are often captured and kept in zoos.  You would think that high walls would have to be built to keep the animal in the zoo; however, the impala can be kept in a 3 feet wall enclosure.  Yes, it can jump 10 feet but is contained by a 3 feet wall because the impala will not jump if they cannot see where their feet will land.

Martin Luther King, Jr., said "Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase."  It's almost impossible to know exactly where your feet will land unless you are taking baby steps. Don't be confused by new terms like "blind faith". All faith is blind faith. Like any blind person, there is a dependency on other senses. Mahatma Gandhi was not a Christian but gave a wonderful description of faith. He said "faith is a kind of sixth sense which works in cases which are without the purview of reason."

Faith is activated by the sense of hearing. "Faith cometh by hearing". If you have heard His voice, don't allow anything to confine you. You may not know where your feet are going to land but take the leap.
