HUSTLE

Matthew 20:3-4
" And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,  And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way."

In a recent game between the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Braves phenom, Ronal Acuna, Jr. made a big mistake. Acuna hit a fly ball to deep center field and was certain that it was a home run. Rather than hustling the bases, Acuna idly watched and, to his surprise, the ball hit off the center field wall and Acuna only reached first base. To redeem himself Acuna tried to steal second and was thrown out.  Braves manager, Brian Snitker, angered by Acuna's failure to hustle, benched him for the rest of the game.

Even Jesus had a problem with people who were content with idleness.  He walked into the marketplace and saw a group of people standing idle. He ordered them to go into the vineyard and work.  The Greek word used for "idle" here is the word "argos" and it means "to shun labor which one ought to perform."  It is not limited to being lazy or doing nothing.  It refers to not doing what you are supposed to be doing. Acuna hit the ball and even as the ball was in the air, he was moving toward first base but he was not hustling.

Someone has said "hustle beats talent when talent doesn't hustle". Don't rely solely on your talent to get you where you want to go. Be willing to hustle.
