AVOID THE TRAP

Psalm 141:9
"Keep me safe from the traps set by evildoers, from the snares they have laid for me."

There is a straight route to my house once I exit the interstate.  I avoid the route because it's a speed trap.  The speed limit is only 45 and I have been stopped on that stretch a few times. Part of the road is downhill and at the bottom of the hill, there are normally two or three police cars sitting in line waiting for one to radar its prey and then the other one will move up. Most often I use the backroads in order to avoid this speed trap.

Earlier this week, without thinking, I took the straight route and, you guessed it...I was pulled over for doing 60 in a 45 zone.  Fortunately, the favor of God was manifested and the officer gave me a warning and allowed me to proceed to my destination.

Ultimately in life, we have only one enemy and that's Satan himself.  While he may use others to do his work, he is the enemy that we contend with and he consistently sets traps for us. We fall into these traps without thinking. We go about life routinely and forget that the enemy is committed to trapping us.

He does not set the same trap for every prey.  Your trap may be a phone call, text message, an invitation to dinner, trip to the mall, internet pop-up, idle time, or even a crowded schedule. You must know your vulnerabilities and then consistently pray that the Lord keep you safe from the traps that have been set.  You know it's a trap.  Avoid it.
