"BE LED BY THE SPIRIT"

Scripture:  Romans 8:14

"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."

In the infancy stage of a young lamb, it was common for the lamb to get lost from its ewe. The Shepherd carried a staff with a crook on the end and he would use the crook to handle the lamb. The shepherd would place the crook around the lamb's body and lift the lamb using nothing but his staff. He would not use his hands or allow the lamb to touch his body. If the lamb touched his body, human odor would get on the lamb and the ewe would refuse to feed it. The shepherd had to be sure not to contaminate the lamb with his own flesh. He would lead the lamb back to the ewe with the staff only.
Metaphorically, a shepherd's staff represents the Spirit of God. The only way that a shepherd handled the lamb was with the Spirit, not with his flesh. This can be taken as a leadership lesson but it's intended to be an individual life lesson. How much of your life has been negatively impacted because it is being led by your own flesh? Are you being led by your emotions, fleshly desires, the crowd, and worldly voices that you have given access to your ear? Or, have you invited the Spirit of God to lead you?
Paul challenges us to be led by the Spirit. That's the only way to get to where God wants you to be.
